As many may know, the annual FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) game challenge has been revealed, launching yet another season of robot build. On January 9, 2010, the RoboJackets took part in the much-celebrated event by hosting their annual FRC kickoff event at the Ferst Center in Atlanta, GA. Although there was inclement weather, the event turnout was a success, attracting over forty teams from Alabama, South Carolina, and all over Georgia. Of those forty teams, fourteen teams stayed for the FIRST robotics-oriented workshops. The workshops, ran by volunteers from the RoboJackets and greater Georgia robotics community, helped prepare FRC teams for a new season. Teams were assisted in assembling basic parts, setting up controls systems, and, most importantly, analyzing game strategies and rules in the workshops. The RoboJackets thank RIM@GT, for the spectacular robot demos for FIRST teams as well as booking the facility, and the CoC for the help with food. With a total of over 350 attendees, the RoboJackets are truly pleased to have sponsored the FRC kickoff event and enrichment workshops, and they are looking forward to continue hosting FRC kickoff events.

RoboCup 2010 Qualification Materials Submitted

The RoboCup team has submitted qualification materials for the 2010 RoboCup World event to be held in Singapore. The materials consist of a demonstration video and Team Description Paper (TDP) both of these are linked to below.

February General Meeting

This months general meeting will be on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 6:30 PM. This will be in MRDC 2407. Our guest speaker will be Brian Guerriero (VP of RoboJackets 2007-2008) from Factory Automation Systems (FAS). He’ll be talking about robots and their use in factories and automated manufacturing systems as well as what FAS is all about. Additionally, we will be collecting dues and giving team updates.
2010 FIRST Championships

2010 will mark the last year that Atlanta will host the FIRST Robotics Championship. This event is held in the Georgia Dome and World Congress Center and will take place April 14 – April 17.
2010 Peachtree Regional

The 2010 Peachtree Regional will be on March 4th through March 6th. This event will be held in the Gwinnett Civic Center in Duluth, GA. More information can be found on the GA FIRST site. Additional, volunteers will be need to help run the event refer to the linked site for more details.

2010 Preship Scrimmage

BattleBots Meeting
