Overview
The IGVC team utilizes vision programming, in-depth electronics, and advanced mechanical techniques to develop a solid 400 lb robot which has the foot print of a small golf cart. This robot has to operate outdoors, off-road, and with varying weather conditions.
The Competition
The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition is held by the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. Each year, over twenty teams bring unmanned, autonomous ground vehicles to this competition where they must traverse an outdoor obstacle course under computer control, and may participate in a GPS way point navigation challenge. All teams are also required to give a presentation describing their design. Teams are scored by their performance in the autonomous challenge, their presentation, and on the design of the robot.
